Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath Claims Hard Rock Cafe Refuses to Return His Beloved Guitar

by Madonna

In a recent interview, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath expressed his frustration with the Hard Rock Cafe, which has not returned his cherished 1964 Gibson “Monkey” SG Special guitar. This iconic instrument was used by Iommi during the early years of Black Sabbath, and he believes the original agreement included an option for him to buy it back whenever he wished.

“I had retired the Monkey SG because it was too valuable to me; I didn’t want to take it on the road and risk it getting damaged,” Iommi explained. He initially agreed to sell the guitar to Hard Rock because it seemed like a good idea to have it on display for fans to appreciate while keeping it safe instead of letting it sit in storage.

The situation has become more complicated since the passing of the man who initially negotiated the deal with Iommi. “We tried to get in touch with Hard Rock to get it back, but they knew nothing about the agreement,” he stated, highlighting the ongoing challenge in retrieving his beloved instrument.
