The Rose Piano Duo will perform for the Thursday Music Club at 11 a.m. this Thursday at the Char House on the Boulevard, located at 1055 E. Bethlehem Blvd. in Wheeling. The event will feature a captivating blend of traditional Chinese instruments, such as the xiao, pipa, and guzheng, along with a special piano performance for four hands.
“The program will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Chinese music, combined with the duo’s renowned piano artistry, offering an introduction to diverse and engaging musical experiences,” club organizers shared.
Hsing-Yi Tsai, a native of Taiwan, holds a DMA in piano performance from West Virginia University. She also earned an artist diploma and a Master of Music in piano from Campbellsville University. Along with her husband, John, she is a founder of Guang Yin (Light of Music), an international music organization. As the Rose Piano Duo, they perform and host music events worldwide. Tsai is also a professor of piano at Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania and is working on a solo piano recording project.
Her husband, John Rose, is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, having performed his original works at Carnegie Hall. He currently serves as the music director at St. John the Evangelist Church in Bellaire and is the head of school at St. John Central Academy, where he teaches French and healing martial arts. Tsai and Rose formed the Rose Piano Duo in 2019 and won first place at the WVU Champ Competition in early 2020.
