The Mecham twins, Aaron and Boaz, will take the stage this Saturday at 4 p.m. for a violin and piano recital at Christ First United Methodist Church, located at 663 Lakeview Ave. Joining them will be Mario Chai and Makai Weeks, promising an afternoon of diverse musical performances.
The recital will showcase a wide range of music, from the baroque period to modern hits like The Beatles and Queen’s iconic Bohemian Rhapsody—the very song that helped the Mecham twins win Chautauqua’s Got Talent in 2019.
Currently enrolled in the violin and piano performance programs at the State University of New York at Fredonia, the Mecham twins have gained considerable recognition for their talent and enthusiasm. SUNY Fredonia piano professor Sean Duggan praised them, saying, “These young men have set our school on fire with their enthusiasm, love of music, and their hunger to learn everything they can.”
In 2023, the Mecham twins triumphed in the SUNY Fredonia Concerto Competition, earning the opportunity to perform Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos with the Fredonia College Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Anne Kissel, director of the piano program at SUNY Fredonia, shared her admiration for their performance: “I thoroughly enjoyed your performance of the Poulenc concerto. Congratulations on an unforgettable moment on the King Concert Hall stage. You are interesting artists, and your duo is truly special.”
The recital is free to attend, with a free-will offering to benefit the Mecham twins’ future collegiate studies at prestigious institutions like the Juilliard School in New York City or the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.
