Noel Gallagher’s prized guitar, which he famously described as “the best in the world,” has sold for £226,800 ($286,000) at auction. This custom Silver Sparkle Gibson Les Paul Florentine was used by Gallagher during the recording of Oasis’s iconic 1997 album Be Here Now.
The guitar, one of Gallagher’s main instruments during Oasis’s peak years, was specially made for him at Gibson’s custom shop. It made memorable appearances on shows like The David Letterman Show and Saturday Night Live.
In a 1997 interview with Spin magazine, Gallagher expressed his admiration for the instrument, stating, “It’s not one of the best guitars. It’s the best guitar.”
The guitar was sold as part of a collection of entertainment memorabilia through the online auction house Propstore.
