Actor Jeff Goldblum delighted passersby at St Pancras International in London with a surprise piano performance, marking the release of Wicked. Goldblum, who plays the Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the upcoming film set to hit cinemas on Friday, performed three songs on Wednesday beneath a specially designed Wicked tree.
An accomplished musician, the Jurassic Park star played a couple of festive Christmas tunes, along with a song from Wicked.
The excitement around the film grew earlier in the week, as stars of the movie gathered in London for the UK premiere at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre on Monday. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande take on the roles of Elphaba and Glinda in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the hit musical.
Goldblum’s impromptu performance took place beneath a stunning tree at St Pancras International, designed to honor the Emerald City. The tree featured a large handmade replica of the Wizard of Oz’s head, adding a magical touch to the station’s holiday decor.
Wendy Spinks, chief commercial officer at St Pancras International and HS1 Ltd, commented on the station’s festive spirit: “Our station is proud to be known as a hotspot for musical performances, creating an exciting and lively experience for travelers and shoppers alike. This festive season, our station has become a hub for all things Wicked, with a beautiful Christmas tree inspired by the film. We were thrilled to host Jeff Goldblum, who wowed our visitors and film fans with his electrifying performance.”
