During a recent live performance, an unexpected moment occurred when Emily Armstrong of Linkin Park accidentally pushed bassist Dave Farrell, sending him crashing into the drums.
In an Instagram video shared by the band, guitarist Brad Delson jokingly asked Farrell, “Emily push you over?” Farrell explained, “Yeah, when I wanted to take a step back, the cymbal stand was there. I went into the drums.”
Delson responded, “Drums?” To which Farrell clarified, “Emily came into me,” adding, “I smashed into Emily.” Delson continued, “Back into the drums,” as Farrell elaborated, “I was on the ground at one point. I tried to make it look purposeful.”
“We do all our own stunts,” Linkin Park captioned the humorous video. The band is currently performing with new singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain.
In a recent interview with KROQ’s Kevan Kenney, Mike Shinoda opened up about the band’s evolving lineup. “It’s really complicated,” he admitted. “Two years ago, it was very overwhelming, and the best thing we did was to let things happen organically, not push too hard.”
Shinoda went on to explain, “We naturally found each other and this new lineup, with Emily and Colin in particular. The music came into focus based on what we were having the most fun doing.”
When the host mentioned that their new album From Zero “sounds like a return to roots,” Shinoda responded, “I love that there’s such a strong Linkin Park DNA in the record. It does feel like Linkin Park, but I think it also blends elements from every era of the band.”
From Zero was released on November 15, 2024. The band also announced a world tour spanning North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. The tour will kick off in January with three shows in Mexico, followed by stops in Japan and Jakarta, Indonesia. In the spring and summer, the band will perform across the U.S., concluding the tour in November in South America.
