The Elastic Drums 2.5 update celebrates the app’s 10th anniversary with a free release introducing eight new 808-based drum synthesis modules. Developed by Oliver Greschke from Mominstruments, this creative drum synthesizer has been a staple for enthusiasts since its launch a decade ago.
Greschke, who is also working on the upcoming Elastic OSC app, continues to innovate in the music app space. Teasers for Elastic OSC began surfacing in November, and beta testing is already underway, generating anticipation for its release.
Elastic Drums, known for its complex yet user-friendly engine, remains an inspiring tool for music creators. The app offers six channels with 13 versatile drum synth engines, each featuring 12 parameters. It includes a multi-FX engine and a sophisticated sequencer with parameter automation, making it comparable to having a Syntakt-like drum machine on a smartphone or tablet.
The latest update introduces eight new engines inspired by the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine. Each engine, like the clKick module, provides extensive customization with parameters such as pitch, tone, decay, release, envelope, overdrive, and multiple filters. The update also addresses a bug related to scaling in Inter-App Audio mode.
While the app still lacks AUv3 support, users are hopeful it will be added in future updates. Despite this limitation, Elastic Drums 2.5 continues to impress with its versatility and innovation, making it a go-to drum synthesizer for both casual and professional use.
Elastic Drums 2.5 is available now as a free update for existing users. New users can purchase the app for $9.99 on the Apple App Store.
