Ella Langley has always been confident about her path in music. “This had been the plan for my whole life,” she affirmed during a recent appearance on the God’s Country podcast. In 2024, that lifelong plan materialized, thanks to the massive success of her collaboration with Riley Green on “You Look Like You Love Me.” Recently, Langley showcased another facet of her talent by shredding through a cover of Heart’s iconic “Barracuda” on social media.
Heart, the legendary sister duo Ann and Nancy Wilson, first released “Barracuda” in 1977 as the lead single from their third album, Little Queen. The track reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains one of the most celebrated rock anthems of all time.
For many, “Barracuda” is a symbol of rock’s golden era—and a notoriously challenging track on the popular video game Guitar Hero. However, Langley seemed unfazed by the song’s intricate riffs and chords. The “Don’t Mind If I Do” singer, now 25, shared a TikTok video of her confidently playing the classic on guitar.
“Much better at this song on Guitar Hero,” Langley joked in the caption.
Fans from both Millennial and Gen Z generations quickly flooded the comments, reliving memories of Guitar Hero. “Real ones grew up on Guitar Hero,” one user wrote.
Another fan noted, “Your version sounds like a ‘60s surfer rock take!”
Originally from Hope Hull, Alabama, Langley honed her craft performing at local festivals before relocating to Nashville in 2019. In 2023, she secured a record deal with Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records. Her debut album, Hungover, earned a spot on Rolling Stone’s Best Country Albums of 2024 list. Despite these accomplishments, Langley is already setting her sights on her next project.
Speaking on the God’s Country podcast, Langley shared that much of her follow-up album has come together “really organically.”
“With this next record, I kinda wanna show that side a little more of me. The Alabama, who is Ella Langley,” she explained.
She added, “Not just the songwriter or the artist, but the human being.”
Langley’s blend of raw talent, authenticity, and determination continues to resonate with fans, as her artistry evolves with each project.
