Wayne Osmond, the guitarist and singer of the renowned American family band The Osmonds, has passed away at the age of 73. The heartbreaking news was shared by his brother Donny Osmond on Instagram on Thursday, January 2. In his emotional tribute, Donny revealed that Wayne had died peacefully from a stroke.
“My dear brother Wayne passed away peacefully last night from a stroke. I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to visit him in the hospital before he passed,” Donny wrote, expressing his gratitude for the final moments they shared.
He continued to honor Wayne’s legacy, saying, “Wayne brought so much light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him, especially me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by everyone. I’m sure I speak on behalf of every one of us siblings when I state that we were fortunate to have Wayne as a brother.”
Donny also found comfort in his faith, adding, “Even though we are separated in this mortal life, I know that by the grace and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we will have the opportunity to be with Wayne for eternity.”
In a heartfelt conclusion, Donny expressed, “I love you, Wayne. Your brother forever, Donny.”
Merrill Osmond, another of Wayne’s brothers, also shared his deep sorrow with fans, posting a tribute on his official Facebook page, reflecting his overwhelming emotions.
Wayne Osmond, the fourth of nine Osmond children, began his musical journey in 1958 with his brothers Alan, Merrill, and Jay as part of a barbershop quartet. The group eventually formed The Osmonds, which would go on to become an iconic family band.
Their breakthrough came after they were discovered by Jay Emerson Williams, father of singer Andy Williams, during a performance at Disneyland. This led to their casting on NBC’s The Andy Williams Show, where they became a staple of the show’s cast for seven years, solidifying their place in music history.
