Hyperkin has announced the release of the “Hyper Strummer” Guitar Controller for the Wii, bringing back nostalgia for Guitar Hero enthusiasts. Despite the seemingly retro timing in 2025, this launch marks a new chapter for the iconic gaming accessory.
Pre-orders for the Hyper Strummer are now open, with Hyperkin promoting the device as a tool to “shred mercilessly on any track” thanks to its quick-action fret buttons designed to test players’ skills. The guitar controller also features a durable, tactile strum bar and a realistic metal whammy bar, enhancing the gaming experience.
The Hyper Strummer operates wirelessly via the Wii remote, which can be inserted into the back of the guitar without requiring additional power sources. For players seeking a replacement guitar, the Hyper Strummer is available on Amazon for $77.
However, some users have raised concerns about the design. While Hyperkin markets the Hyper Strummer as an “updated model” of their previous Wii guitar controller, critics argue it may simply be a rebranded version of the Xtreme Guitar 2.
