It seems the homes of Jack White and Kirk Hammett may soon resonate with fresh riffs, as the two iconic musicians exchanged signature guitars in a gesture that blends admiration with artistry.
In an Instagram post, Jack White, famed for the anthemic “Seven Nation Army,” revealed that Metallica’s lead guitarist Kirk Hammett had gifted him a Gibson recreation of the legendary 1959 Les Paul Standard, famously known as “Greeny.” This storied guitar boasts a rich history, having belonged to Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green and later Thin Lizzy’s Gary Moore, before finding its current home with Hammett.
“Guitar maestro Kirk Hammett of Metallica was kind enough to send me one of his new replicas of the famous ‘Greeny’ guitar,” White shared in his caption. “Owned by Peter Green and Gary Moore, it’s renowned for its unique sound, stemming from the neck pickup being accidentally flipped and wired incorrectly. In my opinion, its voice truly shines around the 15th fret.”
In return, White sent Hammett one of his signature Fender Triplecaster Telecaster guitars. Hammett later posted a photo on his own Instagram account, posing with the distinctive instrument and expressing his excitement.
“Thanks so much @officialjackwhite for this incredible, innovative, and fun Triplecaster guitar!” Hammett wrote in his caption. “I love it so much, Greeny is starting to feel a little jealous!”
This exchange not only highlights the mutual respect between these two legends of rock but also hints at the possibility of some electrifying music coming from their collaboration with these iconic instruments.
