The 9th Annual St. George Jazz Festival will feature world-renowned trumpet player Etienne Charles as the guest artist. Charles will take the stage on February 8, 2025, performing with the Rebel Jazz Band. Additionally, he will offer a free clinic for students and music educators at 1:30 PM on the day of the concert. Born in Trinidad, Etienne Charles is a celebrated performer, composer, and storyteller who constantly seeks out untold stories and sounds to share through his music. His albums, including Creole Orchestra, have topped the jazz charts, with the album remaining at the forefront of the jazz world throughout the summer of 2024.
Known for his rich trumpet tone, diverse compositions, and infectious rhythms, Charles creates a captivating atmosphere that both soothes and excites listeners. His performances are designed to engage, enlighten, educate, and enrich his audiences.
On the evening of Friday, February 7, the festival will kick off with a free concert featuring local jazz musicians at 7:30 PM in the Eccles Concert Hall, followed by an open jam session. All musicians are invited to participate.
The event is made possible with the support of the Washington County RAP Tax, Utah Tech University, the St. George Arts Commission, and the Washington County School District.
