Russian concert pianist Alexander Malofeev will perform for Steinway Society-The Bay Area on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 2:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose. The concert will feature works by Schubert, Kabalevsky, Janáček, Liszt, and Scriabin.
Malofeev, a graduate of the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music, gained international recognition at just 13 years old, winning first prize at the 2014 International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. He further earned accolades with the grand prize at the 2016 Grand Piano Competition and the 2017 Premio Giovane Talento Musicale dell’anno. Additionally, he was named the first Yamaha Young Artist in 2017.
Tickets for his San Jose concert are priced between $53 and $78, with student tickets available at the door for $20. Steinway Society also offers a recorded version of the concert, available to view on demand for 48 hours after its release, at $26.75 per household.
