Acclaimed singer-songwriter Craig Greenberg will release his first single of 2025, She’s Gone and I’m Good For Nothing, on January 31. This track serves as the second single from his upcoming full-length album, set for later this year, and represents a bold new direction in his musical journey.
Greenberg, a seasoned artist with over 15 years of experience, has self-released five albums and built a dedicated fan base through his dynamic, piano-driven sound and compelling songwriting. With She’s Gone and I’m Good For Nothing, he draws inspiration from his deep connection to New Orleans, blending soulful piano motifs that evoke the influences of Dr. John and Leon Russell.
“New Orleans has become like a second home to me, outside of New York,” Greenberg shares. “I’ve been visiting regularly for nearly 30 years and performing there for the past decade. Sooner or later, it was bound to find its way into my writing.”
Much of the song was written during a two-month stay in the Crescent City during the pandemic. The lyrics provide an emotional exploration of relationship anxiety and rejection, all while reflecting the rhythms and unique flavor of New Orleans.
Following his October 2024 single Dissipating Energies, She’s Gone and I’m Good For Nothing was recorded at the Ice Plant in Long Island City, Queens. The track was co-produced by Greenberg and longtime collaborator Wayne Silver. Along with his vocals, Greenberg contributes piano, synthesizers, and guitars, with Tony Tino on bass and Hiroyuki Matsuura on drums.
Known as New York City’s most celebrated post-millennial piano man, Craig Greenberg is a fixture in the city’s live music scene. Throughout his career, he has infused the piano traditions of icons like Billy Joel, Ben Folds, and Randy Newman with his own soulful twists, theatrical storytelling, and a captivating stage presence.
Greenberg’s work has earned recognition in outlets such as American Songwriter, HuffPost, and Relix Magazine, and has been featured on radio stations globally, including NYC’s WFUV. He has performed over 1,000 shows worldwide, including at Lincoln Center and in countries like Israel and Cambodia. His 2022 EP, Between the Sea and the Sky, and its accompanying music video have garnered multiple film festival awards. The single Oh Caroline from his 2020 album Phantom Life reached the semifinals of the 2021 International Songwriting Competition.
Greenberg has also shared stages and collaborated with renowned artists such as Jackson Browne, Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), Jane Wiedlin (The Go-Go’s), Louise Goffin, and Jerry Joseph. After the January release of his new single, he will continue to unveil more music throughout the year, building anticipation for his upcoming full-length album.
