The Midwest Highland Arts Fund has revealed the results of the Winter Storm 2025 piping and drumming competitions, held on Friday evening, January 17, 2025, at the Kansas City Marriott – Country Club Plaza Grand Ballroom.
In the top piping categories, Andrew Donlon claimed the Gold Medal for Piobaireachd, while Alastair Lee won the Gold Medal for Ceol Beag and was also recognized as the aggregate winner for Gold Medal events. Joseph Biggs secured the Silver Medal for Piobaireachd, and Ryan Praskovich took home the Silver Medal for Ceol Beag.
In the drumming categories, Eli Fugate was awarded the Gold Medal for Snare Drumming, Jensen McConnell won the Gold Medal for Tenor Drumming, and Terry Cadiente triumphed with the Gold Medal for Bass Drumming.
In the amateur piping competitions, Kathleen Brown emerged victorious in Grade 1 Piobaireachd, Christopher Rodriguez won Grade 2 Piobaireachd, and Peter Liu took first place in Grade 3 Piobaireachd. The winners for Amateur Ceol Beag were Abby Long (Grade 1), Logan Gorsuch (Grade 2), and Sylvia Thiessen (Grade 3).
The amateur drumming results saw Nicholas Bowden win Grade 1 Snare, Eric Legere take Grade 2 Snare, and Andrew Keppel win Grade 3 Snare. Carolin Stonier claimed victory in Tenor Drumming, and Evan Duckett secured the Bass Drumming title.
