Israeli-American cellist Amit Peled will perform on a c. 1780 cello by the renowned Cremonese maker Lorenzo Storioni, thanks to the generous loan of a couple in Boston.
The cello has not been played in public since 2019, when VC Artist Zlatomir Fung used it during the International Tchaikovsky Competition, which he ultimately won. Peled’s performances will offer the public a rare opportunity to hear the instrument again and learn more about its history. His debut on the cello took place during a recital in San Diego in late January.
As a prominent soloist, Peled regularly graces prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., Salle Gaveau in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, Seoul Arts Center in Korea, and the Konzerthaus Berlin in Germany.
In addition to his performing career, Peled is a professor at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he also teaches masterclasses around the world.
Peled has built an extensive discography, with more than a dozen recordings on labels such as Naxos, Centaur, Delos, and CTM Classics.
