MACHINE HEAD drummer Matt Alston has shared an immersive 360-degree drum-cam video of his performance of “Aesthetics Of Hate” at Poland’s Mystic Festival in Gdańsk on June 6, 2024. The video, which captures the intensity of the performance, can be seen below.
Alston, originally from the UK and known for his work with DEVILMENT and EASTERN FRONT, joined MACHINE HEAD alongside Polish guitarist Wacław “Vogg” Kiełtyka (DECAPITATED) for the band’s 25th-anniversary tour of their debut album Burn My Eyes. This tour kicked off in Germany in October 2019. However, due to his commitments with DECAPITATED, Vogg departed the band and was replaced by Reece Alan Scruggs of HAVOK.
Last November, MACHINE HEAD released the powerful single “These Scars Won’t Define Us”, which features guest appearances from members of the bands accompanying MACHINE HEAD on their spring 2025 North American tour: Swedish metal icons IN FLAMES, Italian alt-metallers LACUNA COIL, and American metalcore giants UNEARTH. The five-week tour will begin on April 5, 2025, at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California, and will wrap up on May 10 in Kelowna, British Columbia.
“These Scars Won’t Define Us” is part of MACHINE HEAD’s upcoming album, which is slated for release in April 2025.
Reece made his live debut with the band in November 2022 during the opening show of MACHINE HEAD’s “Electric Happy Hour (Live)” tour at Strummer’s in Fresno, California. The band’s current lineup also includes guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern.
In early 2024, MACHINE HEAD wrapped up their “Slaughter The Martour” North American tour, which featured support from FEAR FACTORY, ORBIT CULTURE, and GATES TO HELL.
MACHINE HEAD has been touring in support of their latest album Of Kingdom And Crown, released in August 2022. This album follows their 2018 release Catharsis and includes tracks from their 2021 single Arrows In Words From The Sky (“Become The Firestorm”, “Rotten”, and “Arrows In Words From The Sky”). The album was recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California, with engineer/producer Zack Ohren.
In November 2020, MACHINE HEAD released “My Hands Are Empty” through Nuclear Blast. This marked the first musical collaboration between Robb Flynn and original Burn My Eyes guitarist Logan Mader in 24 years. It was one of several singles the band released, including “Do Or Die” in October 2019, “Circle The Drain” in February 2020, and the two-song digital single “Civil Unrest” in June 2020, which featured guest vocals from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Jesse Leach. The tracks were written in the aftermath of the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.
