Croatian piano maestro Maksim Mrvica made a stunning return to Kuala Lumpur on the 12th, performing at the Mega Star Arena with his latest album Segmenti. This electrifying performance, which bridged classical and pop music, drew over 2,000 fans who gathered to witness an unforgettable “fantasy journey” of musical crossovers.
It had been two years since his last performance in Malaysia during The Collection tour, and Maksim expressed his delight and honor at being able to return to the country. He hoped the audience would fully enjoy the show. This time, he not only performed new works from Segmenti in collaboration with a live orchestra but also presented a selection of his most beloved hits. From movie soundtracks to classical arrangements, from energetic anthems to dreamy piano melodies, he took the audience on a dual adventure of both auditory and visual delight.
Maksim opened the concert with the grand New World Concerto, followed by the epic Glorietta, the rock legend adaptation The Show Must Go On, and the classic Exodus. Moreover, his performance of Chopin’s Chopin Prelude and Prokofiev’s Prokofiev Fantasy showcased his impressive classical technique, leaving the audience spellbound with his powerful interpretations.
During a brief costume change, the orchestra kept the energy high, performing Victory, Asturias, and Fiesta, keeping the crowd’s excitement alive. Maksim then returned in his signature sleeveless outfit, delivering stunning renditions of In The Hall Of The Mountain King, Coldplay’s Clocks, the Game of Thrones theme, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Each piece was like a cinematic spectacle, with the music driving emotions to new heights.
As the concert neared its end, Maksim performed a carefully arranged medley of classic tunes, blending Bohemian Rhapsody, Croatian Rhapsody, Mission Impossible, and The Flight of the Bumblebee, showcasing his incredible skill with a breathtaking “16 notes in 1 second” performance.
When the final notes echoed through the arena, the crowd remained eager for more. As chants for “Encore” filled the air, Maksim returned to the stage to perform the fiery Corrida as the grand finale. With the last note played, the audience stood in a standing ovation, and the concert concluded on a perfect note, marked by applause and cheers.
