When the final buzzer rings at TD Garden, one performer isn’t stopping—he’s just getting started. David Bowdre, a Dorchester native, has been drumming on buckets outside Celtics and Bruins games since he was a child, starting at the iconic old Boston Garden.
Using buckets, pans, and other items sourced from local restaurants and supply stores like E.F. Smith & Son in Quincy, Bowdre also brings his unique sound to Downtown Crossing and Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
Bowdre credits drumming with helping him stay out of trouble during his youth. Over the years, he’s had many memorable performances, but nothing compares to the night the Celtics won Banner 18 in 2024.
“We have the most diehard fans in Boston,” Bowdre said. “And we don’t play when we come.”
