A Bösendorfer concert grand piano in Haddington was used in a concert for the first time in four years after undergoing a complete restoration. The piano, which had been in storage due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the closure of the Town House, was fully overhauled by Norman Motion, a renowned piano technician from Scotland.
The piano is now housed at St Mary’s Parish Church in Haddington, where it was brought back to life during a concert on February 9. A spokesperson for Haddington Concert Society expressed their excitement, saying, “It really sparkled. We are delighted. It is wonderful that Haddington has such a magnificent instrument available for public enjoyment.”
The Bösendorfer piano will feature in the society’s final concert of the season on March 9, as well as in several informal St Mary’s at Four summer concerts. To mark the piano’s 20th anniversary in the town, Haddington Concert Society plans to hold a series of special concerts featuring the instrument next season.
