Woodstick will celebrate its 22nd anniversary at Old Parkland School in Parkland, Washington, on March 16, 2025. The festival began on March 29, 2003, at the Tacoma Narrows Airport, initially conceived by local drummer Chris Kimball to raise funds for his rotary club’s efforts to eradicate polio. Partnering with fellow business owner and drummer Donn Bennett, the inaugural event attracted 264 drummers, more than doubling the previous world record set in Europe. What started as a local gathering of drummers eager to play together and share their love for music and percussion has since evolved into a well-known annual event.
As the event grew, it began attracting celebrity drummers from across the country, and over the years, Woodstick has become a cherished tradition among drumming and percussion communities. The festival continues to honor the connection between drummers and their shared passion for music.
The 22nd-anniversary event will feature a variety of drum clinics, along with performances by celebrated drummers such as Gregg Bissonette, Tony Coleman, Rich Redmond, Emily Gould, Jeff Kathan, Chase Culp, Marco Bicca, Paul Higgins, Chris “Wombat” Womble, Ray Audette, Carl Martin, Chris DeLisa, and a group of alumni drummers.
As with previous years, proceeds from the festival will benefit a worthy cause. This year, net proceeds will go toward saving Parkland School from demolition and repurposing it into a community center, a vital resource for the area.
Drummers wishing to participate are asked to bring their own drum kits, and pre-registration is strongly recommended. A $30 admission fee grants access to all drummer clinics.
