Korg has released the free v5 update for both Korg Module and Module Pro, introducing an exciting new feature— the Osaka acoustic drum kit. This update brings a fresh addition to the apps, offering a new dimension for electronic music producers and musicians alike.
Korg Module and Module Pro are part of the popular Korg Gadget suite, with the latter focusing more on acoustic and traditional sounds. While Korg Gadget caters to electronic music, the Module apps offer a collection of virtual instruments, making them perfect for those who prefer classic, acoustic-based sounds. With the Osaka drum kit added in this update, users now have access to high-quality, professional-recorded drum sounds for their projects.
Back in 2020, Korg Module made a significant leap forward with version 4, which included the highly anticipated AUv3 support for individual gadget instruments. Now, with the release of Korg Module v5, users can enjoy new features, including the Osaka drum module that comes with 12 expertly recorded drum sounds. Each sound in the Osaka kit offers up to eight velocity layers and round-robin samples per layer for a realistic and dynamic performance.
As an added bonus, the new Osaka drum kit is also available as an instrument gadget in the Korg Gadget app, making it even more versatile for users who want to incorporate it into their electronic music production.
In addition to the Osaka kit, Korg has released a new expansion sound library for Osaka called Wild Kits, available for purchase within the app. This expansion brings even more sounds to the table, enriching the user’s creative options. Furthermore, Korg has increased the app’s maximum polyphony to 256 voices. While this improves the overall sound quality, users should be mindful that on certain devices, increasing the polyphony may lead to noise issues, depending on their performance.
Korg has also made several other stability improvements in the v5 update, ensuring that the apps run smoothly and efficiently. This continued development is a great sign for Korg Module users, as the free update adds valuable new instruments and features.
The Korg Module v5 and Module Pro v5 updates are available now as free downloads. In celebration of the update, Korg is offering a 50% discount on Module Pro v5 and its expansions. The new Wild Kits sound expansion is priced at €9.99.
