When asked about his favorite KISS guitarist, he explained, “I love Ace, of course. When you’re little and you see something that inspires you, it could be anything—a sports figure, a race car driver, or a musician. For me, it was KISS, and that’s what inspired me to do what I’m doing today.”
John 5 also spoke about the importance of inspiration in music, saying, “I think inspiration is one of the most important things in the world. It stays with you forever, and it can change your life forever as well.”
While John 5 is known for his love of “crazy shredding” and technical guitar playing, he acknowledged the value of Frehley’s more melodic approach, which allows listeners to “sing along to the solos.” He stated, “No one does it better than him. I love Ace, and I love all that stuff with the melodic solos. It’s something truly special.”
