Klevgrand Unveils Elpiano Electric Piano Plugin with 10 Algorithmic Models

by Madonna

Klevgrand has launched Elpiano, a new electric piano plugin for both macOS and Windows, introducing 10 distinct algorithmic electric piano models. This innovative plugin stands out from traditional electric pianos that rely on multi-sampling techniques, such as those from companies like AAS and Pianoteq. Instead, Elpiano utilizes a proprietary algorithm developed by Klevgrand to provide a unique sound experience.

The Elpiano plugin features 10 different electric piano models, each meticulously crafted and adjusted to provide a distinctive sound. Klevgrand emphasizes that a significant amount of effort has gone into creating a workflow experience that is both intuitive and inspiring for users. The plugin is compact, at around 200MB, making it much smaller than typical electric piano sample libraries that often require larger storage, such as those for Kontakt.

The 10 models included in Elpiano offer a variety of tones, each with its own character. Among them is the “Skyline,” a clean and responsive model with perfectly tuned keys, and the “Gotown,” which provides a grittier variation of the Skyline sound. “Precious” offers a softer, gentler tone, while “Silky Way” pairs beautifully with phaser and chorus effects for smooth ballads. Other models include “Whirl,” known for its funky and punchy sound, and “Unicorny,” which gives the feel of an old electric piano found in an attic. The “Picky” model is bright and percussive, while “Arbor” offers a harp-like sound. “Digilog FM” evokes the sounds of 80’s hits and early video games, and “Unsound” features broken pickups and faulty electronics for a unique, distressed effect.

Each of the 10 models can be further customized with a built-in vintage-style EQ, offering bass and treble controls. Additional options include a drive control and a cabinet effect with five models, available in both mono and stereo configurations. For further sound shaping, Klevgrand has integrated various fully adjustable effects, such as six types of reverb, six room simulations, delay, chorus, phaser, tremolo, and vibrato. To get users started, Elpiano includes 50 ready-to-use presets.

While Elpiano impresses with its sound quality, expressiveness, and ease of use, it lacks the deep customization options that some other algorithmic pianos like Pianoteq and AAS Lounge Lizard EP-4 offer. However, the plugin’s current design remains highly playable and suitable for a wide range of musical productions.

Elpiano is available now at an introductory price of $99.99, down from its regular price of $149.99. The plugin is compatible with VST3, AU, and AAX formats on both macOS (supporting both native Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows.
