Cort Guitars is expanding its popular Artisan bass lineup with the introduction of the Space 4, a headless bass guitar that builds on the success of last year’s Space 5. The new model promises to push the boundaries of bass design with enhanced ergonomics, a sleek headless structure, and lightweight performance. The Space 4 will be available for purchase globally through local retailers and online.
Designed with deeper contours and cutaways, the Space 4 boasts an ergonomic body shape that pays homage to the legacy of the iconic Space basses from the 1980s. Its balanced soft maple body is topped with a 6mm poplar burl veneer, offering a blend of tight, punchy lows and bright, transparent highs. The bass also features the understated “Next Gen” Cort logo, subtly engraved on the body, which stands out against the available Star Dust Green and Star Dust Black finishes.
The bass’s 7-piece bolt-on neck, made from roasted maple, walnut, purple heart, and maple, ensures solid and reliable performance in any setting. The neck is complemented by a roasted maple fretboard, featuring 24 frets (including a zero fret) and a 34” (864mm) scale length. The neck’s 15.75” (400mm) radius and 1 4/7” (40mm) nut width provide precision and comfort. Abalone inlays and a spoke nut Hotrod truss rod add a finishing touch to this forward-thinking neck design.
As with all headless basses, the hardware plays a crucial role in performance. Cort has innovated with a custom headpiece and individual bridges to ensure the Space 4 remains light, compact, and maintains exceptional tuning stability. This innovative headless hardware system enhances the overall playing experience by reducing weight without sacrificing functionality.
The Space 4’s sound is powered by Bartolini® MK-1 pickups, known for their signature punch, warmth, and brilliance. These pickups come equipped with a built-in preamp for enhanced tone shaping, allowing players to fine-tune their sound with a push/pull Master Volume to switch between active and passive modes, along with Blend, Treble, Mid, and Bass controls.
Every Space 4 bass comes with D’Addario® EXL165 strings and a gig bag, providing players with everything they need to take their new instrument on the road.
