Harley Benton has introduced its latest budget-friendly guitar, the ST-JAMster, offering a unique feature – built-in effects – at an incredibly affordable price of just $140. This new Strat-style electric guitar aims to make high-quality sound and effects accessible to beginners and players on a budget.
The ST-JAMster, available in two finishes – Metallic Deep Silver and Sparkling Candy Apple – is priced at €139 (around $138.87 USD). This innovative model brings a range of effects, including overdrive, distortion, reverb, and delay, all integrated into the guitar, removing the need for external pedals.
Designed with the familiar 3-knob layout of an S-style guitar, the ST-JAMster introduces a unique twist. The bottom knob controls a 5-position Master Sound Selector rotary switch, allowing users to choose from five different sounds: clean, clean/reverb, overdrive, distortion, and distortion/delay.
In passive mode, the guitar operates like a traditional electric guitar, with the knobs functioning as master volume and tone. However, when in active mode, the second knob acts as an effect level control, offering greater flexibility and customization for the player.
The guitar is built with Harley Benton’s successful Standard style, featuring one humbucker and two single-coil pickups, along with a synchronized tremolo bridge. For additional functionality, the pickguard includes two 3.5mm jack sockets: one for headphones and the other for audio recording output, along with a standard quarter-inch jack for connecting to an amplifier.
Powering the active circuitry requires three AA batteries, providing up to 10 hours of playtime. Other features include a maple neck with a roseacer fingerboard, 22 frets, and a 12” radius, while the body is constructed from poplar wood.
Although no video or audio demos have been released yet, the ST-JAMster promises to be an affordable and versatile option for beginners and those seeking a compact travel guitar with built-in effects.
