Canadian rock legends Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) have released their first new single in over 25 years, titled “60 Years Ago.” The track, which reflects on the vibrant music scene of their hometown, Winnipeg, features an iconic guitar solo from Neil Young, adding a special touch to the band’s return to the music scene.

The song not only marks a significant musical comeback for BTO but also supports a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the sale of “60 Years Ago” will benefit The Bridge to Nowhere charity ride, a nonprofit initiative working to end homelessness in Winnipeg, in collaboration with Brothers of the Fork and Hockey Helps the Homeless.

The tour will run through May in Canada before the band heads to the U.S. for shows with The Marshall Tucker Band and Jefferson Airplane starting on July 18 at Harrah’s Stir Cover in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Randy Bachman, one of the founding members of BTO, expressed his excitement about the new single, saying, “As a thank-you to Winnipeg, the city that shaped us, I wrote a song called ‘60 Years Ago.’ It features Tal Bachman, KoKo Bachman, and me, with Fred Turner on vocals, and features an incredible guitar solo from Neil Young.”

He went on to explain the inspiration behind the song, adding, “This song is our tribute to Winnipeg, the place where we grew up as teenagers in the ’60s, a time when the city’s music scene was exploding. It was the Liverpool of North America, a melting pot of incredible talents. Everyone I’ve talked to who spent time in Winnipeg and witnessed that musical explosion is excited to hear this song, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.”

Bachman-Turner Overdrive, best known for hits like “Taking Care of Business” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” continues to carry the BTO legacy forward with an updated lineup. Joining Randy Bachman are his son Tal Bachman on guitar, daughter-in-law KoKo Bachman on drums, Lance Lapointe on bass, and Brent Knudsen on guitar.
