Phil Campbell, former guitarist of Motörhead, recently shared his thoughts on Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming farewell concert in an interview with the Everblack Podcast. Although Campbell expressed his well-wishes for Ozzy, he confirmed he would not be attending the historic event.
“I think we’re away anyway, but I don’t go very far to see acts now,” Campbell remarked. “I’d rather stay home with my wife and my dogs, to be honest. I value my home time now. We’re doing so much touring.” Despite this, he expressed his support for Ozzy, wishing him “all the best” for his final performance.
Campbell also acknowledged the significant role of Tom Morello, who will serve as the musical director for the event. “I wouldn’t like to be in Tom Morello’s shoes. He’s the MD of the day organizing it all, so he’s probably got the hardest job of the lot,” Campbell said. “It’s going to be amazing. Some brilliant bands on there… I hope Ozzy goes out in style.”
Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell concert, titled “Back To The Beginning,” is scheduled for July 5 at Birmingham’s Villa Park. This event marks a poignant return to Ozzy’s hometown, where the original Black Sabbath lineup — Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward — will perform together for the first time in two decades.
The star-studded lineup includes legendary bands such as Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Tool, each of whom will pay tribute to Osbourne by performing Black Sabbath songs. The concert is not only a musical celebration but also a charitable one. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice, ensuring that the concert leaves a positive impact on the community.
