The prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition has officially announced the 30 talented pianists who will take part in its 2025 edition, set to take place in Fort Worth. The event, organized by The Cliburn, will run from May 21 to June 7 at the Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU and Bass Performance Hall, according to a press release issued Wednesday.
Widely regarded as one of the most esteemed classical music competitions globally, The Cliburn gained recognition from outlets like The New York Times for its influence in shaping the careers of emerging artists. The 2022 competition, for example, saw the rise of Yunchan Lim, the youngest winner in the contest’s history.
For the 2025 competition, 30 pianists were selected from a pool of 340 applicants and represent 17 different countries and regions.
“We continue to be amazed by the extraordinary level of musicianship, dedication, and passion that these pianists bring,” said Jacques Marquis, president and CEO of The Cliburn. “It’s a privilege for us to offer them a global platform to share their artistic voice and support their professional growth.”
The competition will award a total of $265,000 in prize money. The gold medalist will receive $100,000, the silver medalist will take home $50,000, and the bronze medalist will earn $25,000. In addition to the cash prizes, the top winners will also benefit from three years of personalized career management.
The Cliburn 2025 promises to be a significant event in the classical music world, continuing its legacy of discovering and nurturing the next generation of piano greats.
