A historic piece of rock memorabilia tied to legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is now up for auction—and it’s generating serious buzz among collectors.
Currently being sold by Heritage Auctions, the item in question is the only known bass drumhead to bear Bonham’s personal symbol—three interlocking rings. Online bidding is open ahead of the official auction date on April 17, and as of now, the top bid has already reached $21,000.
John Bonham, along with vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, and bassist John Paul Jones, founded the iconic rock band Led Zeppelin in 1968. The band disbanded in 1980 following Bonham’s tragic death at just 32 years old.
According to Heritage Auctions, this specific drumhead featuring Bonham’s symbolic rings was used during Led Zeppelin’s legendary 1973 and 1975 North American tours.
In a press release, Heritage stated: “The drumhead earned rock immortality in The Song Remains the Same, the band’s iconic concert film shot at Madison Square Garden in July 1973. It last graced the stage during the group’s historic five-night stand at London’s Earls Court in May 1975, before being stored away for decades.”
Now, decades later, this rare piece of rock history is resurfacing—offering fans and collectors a unique chance to own a piece of Bonham’s musical legacy.
