Alesis Introduces the Strata Club: Compact Size, Uncompromised Sound

by Madonna

Alesis has expanded its electronic drum lineup with the release of the Strata Club, a model designed to provide the high-quality sound expected from the Strata range but with a more compact footprint. This addition follows the company’s previous releases—the flagship Strata Prime and the entry-level Strata Core—and aims to bridge the gap for drummers seeking professional sound in a smaller, space-saving form.

The Strata Club maintains the powerful sound engine found in the Strata Core. By utilizing the same module, Alesis ensures that users do not have to sacrifice sonic quality even in limited space environments like home studios or small performance stages. The drum module itself benefits from inMusic’s acquisition of BFD, which has significantly enriched the onboard sound libraries across Alesis’ mid to high-end e-kits. The Core module boasts an impressive 25GB of drum content, offering over 144,000 individual samples that encompass more than 370 drum and percussion instruments. These sounds span around 800 different articulations, delivering a versatile and expressive drumming experience.

The module features a 7-inch touchscreen display with high-resolution graphics, allowing for intuitive navigation and control. This interface is complemented by six large rotary knobs that are soft-assigned based on the context of the screen, providing seamless interaction without external devices. This user-friendly approach reflects the growing trend of untethered performance, eliminating the frequent need for connecting to third-party sound libraries.

In terms of connectivity, the Strata Club includes essential options while reducing bulk and cost. The rear panel houses two additional trigger outputs, a standard 5-pin MIDI port, and two USB connections—one for computer interfacing and another for importing custom samples. An auxiliary input allows external audio sources to be played through the module, and dual TRS outputs offer flexibility in live or recording scenarios. Two headphone jacks, one of each size, are conveniently located at the front, eliminating the need for adapters.

The hardware configuration of the Strata Club includes three mesh head pads: a 12-inch dual-zone snare, a dual-zone 10-inch mounted tom, and a dual-zone 10-inch floor tom. A compact 8-inch mesh-headed kick pad completes the core drum set. The cymbal array features a 14-inch triple-zone ride, a 12-inch triple-zone crash, and a 12-inch hi-hat with the advanced Active Magnetic Controller. All cymbals benefit from Alesis’ ARC 360º playing surfaces, providing a consistent and realistic feel. Each drum head can be tensioned to match the player’s preference, and the crash and ride cymbals are chokable, adding further realism to the playing experience.

All components are mounted on a sleek and durable black tubular metal frame, which includes four posts and three cross members. This stable structure enhances the kit’s reliability while maintaining its compact design. For musicians seeking the dynamic sound of the Strata series in a more adaptable format, the Strata Club presents a compelling solution.
