UJAM has introduced the latest addition to its Virtual Guitarist series with the release of CINEDREAM. Designed for cinematic and atmospheric production, CINEDREAM combines the authenticity of electric guitar performances with sophisticated sound design tools. This hybrid instrument enables producers, composers, and sound designers to craft everything from delicate guitar lines to vast, abstract soundscapes with ease and precision.
Peter Gorges, Co-Founder of UJAM and co-sound-designer of CINEDREAM, emphasized the instrument’s significance in the modern music landscape. He noted that guitars have increasingly rivaled synthesizers in the creation of cinematic audio textures. With today’s advanced design tools and the organic quality of guitar tones, this trend continues to grow. Gorges explained that CINEDREAM remains true to the Virtual Guitarist concept while incorporating features inspired by UJAM’s popular Symphonic Elements series—a move prompted by consistent user demand.
Blending the tactile playability and realism associated with UJAM’s Virtual Guitarist instruments with the cinematic depth found in the Symphonic Elements line, CINEDREAM delivers an experience shaped by the sonic aesthetics of acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer, a founding partner of UJAM. The instrument is particularly suited for film and game scoring, as well as enriching genres like pop, rock, ambient, and electronic with immersive, guitar-driven textures.
CINEDREAM features a custom electric guitar model tailored for a wide range of expressive articulations, offering a rich and warm tonal base. Users can explore six different amplifier setups ranging from clean and shimmery to fully saturated and intense. The plugin also includes real-time performance controls, enabling nuanced shaping of dynamics, timing, and articulation.
Its dual multi-effect engines provide a canvas for evolving textures, utilizing tools like modulation, sequencing, granular effects, and ambient layers. CINEDREAM’s style-based phrase engine allows for the instant triggering of authentic guitar performances, from subtle rhythmic pulses to elaborate, cinematic phrases and even improvisational textures. With 200 factory presets at the user’s disposal, the instrument offers an array of ready-to-use rhythms, pads, textures, and sequences to spark creativity and add sonic depth to any production.
UJAM itself was founded by Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams—two artists known for pushing the boundaries of music through technology. The company aims to democratize music-making by simplifying the creative process, empowering musicians with tools that make professional-quality production more accessible.
The development team behind UJAM includes pioneers of virtual instrument technology, previously responsible for acclaimed tools like Steinberg Hypersonic, Virtual Guitarist, Digidesign Xpand, and Transfuser. Their shared goal is to shorten the path from musical inspiration to finished track, making the process more intuitive and creatively fulfilling.
CINEDREAM is now available as a plugin in VST2, VST3, AU2, and AAX formats for both macOS and Windows. The introductory price is set at $39 USD or €39, with a discounted price of $29 USD or €29 for existing UJAM customers, including those who own free titles. The regular price is $49 USD or €49.
