Martin Guitar is celebrating Earth Day 2025 with the launch of a stunning limited-edition acoustic model, the D Biosphere III, featuring captivating polar bear-themed artwork. This new release continues the brand’s tradition of merging music, art, and environmental stewardship.
Created in collaboration with renowned artist Robert Goetzl, a longtime Martin partner, the D Biosphere III pays homage to the Arctic environment. The guitar’s body showcases a poignant image of a mother polar bear and her cub, set against the warm hues of an Arctic sunset.
“It’s about the connection between mother and child, and the question of whether that cub will have a future,” says Goetzl, emphasizing the symbolic weight of the design.
Crafted from responsibly sourced, FSC-certified tonewoods, the D Biosphere III features a Sitka spruce top, sapele back and sides, and European flamed maple binding. These sustainable materials highlight Martin’s ongoing commitment to eco-conscious craftsmanship. Additional features include an ebony fingerboard with subtle sapele dot inlays, a dovetail neck joint, and a satin finish, offering both visual beauty and exceptional sound.
To further underscore its commitment to conservation, Martin has teamed up with Polar Bears International, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting polar bears and their sea ice habitat. In support of this partnership, Martin has made a financial contribution to the organization as part of the guitar’s launch.
Coinciding with the D Biosphere III release, Martin has also published its annual Impact Report, providing a transparent overview of the company’s progress toward its sustainability, community, and philanthropic goals. Highlights include:
- 93 grants awarded through the Martin Guitar Charitable Foundation, totaling over $500,000.
- More than $32,000 worth of instruments donated to support music education and environmental causes.
- Ongoing reforestation initiatives across Central America and Pennsylvania.
- Over 60 tons of recycled materials processed throughout Martin’s facilities.
- The introduction of the Inception guitar, made from sustainable, domestically abundant tonewoods.
“This annual report reflects Martin’s long-standing dedication to creating positive change, both within the music industry and beyond,” the company stated.
With the D Biosphere III and its latest Impact Report, Martin continues to lead by example, blending artistic expression with environmental advocacy in a meaningful tribute to Earth Day 2025.
