South Korean pianist Lim Yun-chan has won three major accolades, including “Recording of the Year,” at the prestigious BBC Music Magazine Awards in the United Kingdom.
According to BBC Music Magazine, Lim received the Recording of the Year, Instrumental Award, and Newcomer Award for his album Chopin: Études during the award ceremony held in London on April 23 (local time).
This remarkable achievement sets a new record in the awards’ 20-year history. Lim became the first-ever artist to win both the Newcomer Award and Recording of the Year with a single album.
In his acceptance speech, Lim expressed deep gratitude and surprise, saying:
“So many great albums were released last year—I never imagined I would win. I feel deeply honored and thankful. I have always tried to seek balance and harmony between emotion and reason in my performances.”
Charlotte Smith, Editor of BBC Music Magazine, praised Lim’s extraordinary talent:
“It’s astounding that a 21-year-old artist could take home three major awards, but Lim Yun-chan is no ordinary musician.”
BBC Music Magazine, founded in 1992, is one of the UK’s leading classical music publications. Since 2006, it has annually honored outstanding classical music recordings across various categories.
