George Lopez currently serves as artist-in-residence, director, and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra at Bowdoin College in Maine. He is widely admired for his refined interpretations, described by the Los Angeles Times as full of “kaleidoscopic colors and clarity of conception.” Lopez’s repertoire is extensive, covering the complete Mozart sonatas, Beethoven’s piano concertos, Rachmaninoff’s Etude-Tableaux, all of Chopin’s etudes and ballades, and Bach’s complete Klavierübungen, which he performs across organ, harpsichord, and piano.

His career has taken him to prestigious stages across Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, and North America, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, Benaroya Hall, and Ambassador Hall in Los Angeles. In his role at Bowdoin College, Lopez directs one of New England’s most vibrant student symphonic programs, nurturing the next generation of classical musicians.

Gulimina Mahamuti holds the distinction of being the first Uyghur from China to earn a Doctorate of Musical Arts in piano performance in the United States, where she studied at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She began her musical education early, being admitted at 15 to Northwest University for Nationalities in China as a gifted high school piano student. Mahamuti later earned two master’s degrees—one in piano performance and pedagogy from Harbin Normal University, and the other in piano performance from Pittsburg State University, where she graduated with top academic honors.

Mahamuti made her Carnegie Hall debut at Weill Recital Hall and has since performed internationally in cities such as Montreal, Copenhagen, Istanbul, and Budapest—where she appeared at the invitation of the Turkish Ambassador—as well as throughout the U.S. and China. She has performed as a concerto soloist with the Southeast Kansas Symphony Orchestra, the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, and the Harbin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Alongside her performance career, she is an active educator currently on the faculty at Bowdoin College.

Their upcoming concert at Hammond Hall promises an evening of musical excellence, global flair, and a unique four-hand piano experience that showcases the artistry and cultural depth of Duo Mundi.
