Grenada: Jarel Bartholomew “Mystic Saxx” who is a 20-year-old Grenadian Saxophonist was first introduced to music at the St. George’s Anglican Junior School at the tender age of eight years old by his music teacher Casimir Thomas of the Westerhall Music Academy.
Mystic Saxx first played the recorder and later switched instruments to the Clarinet. It wasn’t until Form Three, while he attended Presentation Brothers College that he found his niche with the Saxophone, especially after taking part in competitions and being able to represent his school in 2017 & 2019 at Carifesta.
After graduation, he continued music at TAMCC and also won first place in the Best Talent competition at that school. Jarel has greatly influenced music throughout his career, including Chevon Thomas, Ethan Bartholomew, Jahiem Staford, and Jevon Andrews, all members of a band they formed in college.
After college he migrated to the USA, where he made a tremendous debut as a soloist on the Eastern Parkway in NYC as a musician and also traveled to Denmark and continues to perform at various events throughout the USA, making him even more confident in his art form.
Jarel has an immense passion for music and also plays the Drums, Keyboard, Clarinet, and Recorder, however, his love is for the Sax and he continues to improve on his craft daily and shows a great deal of diversity in the genres of music he plays.
He has done numerous covers for R&B and AfroBeats songs and especially likes doing soca. His commitment and drive come from his fans’ reactions to his playing and the support that he gets from his family, other musicians, and his team.
Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture took to Facebook and shared the profile of Jarel Bartholomew “Mystic Saxx”. It also shared a video showcasing the life glimpses of the musician.
